Companies at two business parks in Stoke-on-Trent are campaigning for the right to switch energy suppliers after claiming they are being overcharged for electricity.
The Sentinel reports how several firms based at Trentham Business Quarter and Trentham Trade Park believe developer St Modwen is charging over the odds for power.
Julian Gallimore, whose company Packet Media is based at one of the sites, explained how the organisation's bill for June was £600.
Mr Gallimore claimed this cost could be almost halved if businesses were allowed to choose their own energy supplier.
St Modwen's regional director Mike Herbert commented: "It has been our experience ... that while an alternative supplier may quote a cost per unit below our all-in figure, once it has been investigated ... the total cost per unit is no less."
Having managed schemes for more than 25 years, St Modwen claims to be one the UK's leading regeneration specialists with offices across the country.
