The offshore wind industry can provide an "indigenous" supply of cheap energy and jobs, an industry figure has said.
According to Andrew Jamieson, chairman of RenewableUK, the offshore wind industry is growing from strength to strength and must be used to deliver the employment and economic benefits that onshore wind failed to capture.
He stressed that in order to realise these goals, the country has to work together in a way it has not done so before to meet the challenges presented by planning and to do all that is "humanly possible" to deliver a UK supply chain of real jobs.
"To do [this], we must also set aside our wider company principals for the benefit of the new goals," Mr Jamieson commented.
"I call on our stakeholders in government and regulation to protect our fragile investor confidence."
The RenewableUK boss also called on companies and the government to only make changes that will result in significant and positive developments.
