British Gas customers 'save £322 a year with energy efficiency measures' - 04/02/2011

Energy comparison customers might be interested to hear that a number of gas users have reduced their energy consumption.

According to a report from the Centre for Economics and Business Research, customers of British Gas have recorded a 22 per cent decline in gas usage in four years due to energy efficiency measures around the home.

Practices such as installing insulation and energy efficient boilers resulted in the average household saving £322 a year and cutting 44 per cent of their gas use between 2006 and 2010.

Gearoid Lane, managing director of the energy supplier's new markets division, commented: "Rising global energy prices needn't mean higher bills for households. This report shows that many homes are already reducing their energy consumption and cutting bills, but we want all British Gas homes to enjoy the same benefit."

The report comes as British Gas launches a national initiative to offer free insulation fitting in the homes of its dual fuel customers.
