Organisations ask about Green Deal - 06/04/2011

A number of organisations have met with a government minister to have their questions regarding the Green Deal answered.Dan Monzani of the Department of Energy and Climate Change took queries from bodies including the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) and the CBI, which mostly concerned the energy efficiency measures involved in the retrofit initiative. The retrofit is set to be launched next year and will make improvements to homes in order to save residents money on their cheap energy bills and reduce carbon emissions generated by older properties.Richard Diment, director general of the FMB, commented last week: The fact that 42 per cent of the UK's carbon emissions come from our buildings means that the Green Deal has enormous potential to help ensure the UK meets the requirements set out in the Climate Change Act of reducing carbon emissions by 80 per cent by 2050."However, he warned, the government needs to put into action its retrofit plans soon before time runs out.Make sure you're not paying too much for your energy - compare gas and electricity prices now at energyhelpline.com or call 0800 074 0745.ADNFCR-8000263-ID-19954571-ADNFCR
