Energy supplier SSE has been highlighting the progress it has made over the past 12 months in developing new renewable energy sources and schemes to help customers.
The firm estimated the average consumer would have paid £1,118 for gas and electricity in the year up to March 31st, compared with £1,137 in 2010/11.
It also reiterated its pledge not to introduce any further increases in domestic energy bills before October 2012 at the earliest.
Chief executive of SSE Ian Marchant said: "The economic uncertainty and the challenges of global energy markets that have characterised recent years look set to continue for some time."
However, he added the firm is well placed to make progress and will be looking to get off to a good start in 2011/12.
Last week, SSE also announced it is to set up four regional customer forums so consumers around the UK can have their say about their gas and electricity supplies.
