Tenants 'prefer homes to use sustainable cheap energy' - 05/05/2010

British tenants are increasingly showing a preference for efficient homes that make the most of sustainable cheap energy.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, more Brits are keen on reducing their carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency and this might manifest itself in an increased demand for eco-friendly homes.

Landlords were advised to install a number environmentally-friendly modifications to their properties in order to raise the green credentials and overall value of the homes.

Amendments such as efficient heating systems with controls and condensing boilers can help reduce energy wastage.

Meanwhile, a property industry expert recently urged homeowners to improve the energy efficiency of their homes in order to save money and reduce their carbon footprint.

Andrew Leech, director of the National Home Improvement Council, said improving efficiency should be among homeowners' top priorities because not only does it help reduce the cost of gas and electricity from energy suppliers, but it can also raise the value of a home.
