Combi boilers 'offer lower bills' - 15/05/2012

People who are looking to replace their central heating system in order to get cheap energy may wish to consider investing in a combi boilers.

It was noted by Andrew Aitkin, East Midlands area sales manager at heating company Remeha, that these devices can operate much more efficiently than older items.

He explained they can save money as they heat water as it is used, rather than warming up an entire tank.

"So if you only have the tap on for ten minutes you're paying for ten minutes of gas, while with any traditional system you're paying to heat up your store of water every time," Mr Aitkin said.

The expert added they could be especially useful in smaller homes where space is at a premium, as they allow people to take tanks out of their loft and remove cylinders from airing cupboards.

Last week, British Gas announced it is reintroducing its boiler scrappage scheme, which 30,000 people took advantage of last year.
