A large number of people may wish to perform an energy price comparison to find a better deal if they feel their current supplier does not care about them.
According to a survey conducted by energyhelpline.com, 88 per cent of Brits believe their energy supplier is not interested in their needs or concerns.
Director of the independent price comparison site Mark Todd said: "There is a widespread public perception that the privatised energy market is not working for consumers and that suppliers sadly seem to prioritise profits over customers."
He added that while steps have been taken to simplify energy tariffs and eliminate confusing jargon, there is still a long way to go before gas and electricity providers can restore the faith of the public.
Recently British Gas announced plans to boost customer confidence by allowing direct debit users to take greater control over their bill payments.
