A home improvement agency has been allocated £40,000 to help homeowners improve the energy efficiency of their property.
The Lancashire Telegraph reports that Hyndburn Borough Council has partnered with Hyndburn Homewise to bring the grant to residents.
Individuals will be offered up to £250 towards the cost of any works carried out to improve energy efficiency rates.
Sue Sinclair, manager of Homewise, said: "This grant is a good way of helping people over 55 to reduce their fuel costs by improving the energy efficiency of their homes."
To qualify, people must own the home where they live and be over 55 on the date of application.
Those who are eligible could have improvements made to their insulation, draughtproofing fitted, boilers replaced and central heating installed.
