Companies may be able to save money and improve their green credentials by paying greater attention to their business gas and electricity use, it has been claimed.
A spokesperson for The Renewable Energy Centre argued that a change in consumption patterns could help to reduce businesses' impact on the environment.
"Energy consumption is probably one of the biggest areas in which businesses can save money by enforcing a change in typical behaviour regarding electricity, heating and ventilation," the spokesperson said.
They added that the business sector is "slowly" looking at energy saving measures and overall consumption.
Aside from making long-term green changes to patterns of energy use, companies may be able to reduce their outgoings on business electricity and gas by switching supplier to find a more suitable tariff for their usage patterns.
While such a move may not help to reduce carbon emissions, businesses may be able to reduce their costs.
