Energy efficiency measures could save money on bills - 26/04/2011

Business energy users could take a leaf out of a TV production firm's book and save money on their gas bills.

Green Wise Business reported that Outline Productions has cut its office waste and carbon emissions by implementing environmentally friendly recommendations made by eco charity Global Action Plan.

Diana Hunter, head of production at the company, told the news source: "At the moment we've saved the equivalent of 90 trees and 9,300kg of CO2."

She noted that energy saving measures such as installing timers on electrical appliances, motion sensors in the kitchen and bathrooms and high efficiency LED studio lighting have set Outline on track to save almost £500 a year on bills.

The business also considered green energy tariffs and signed up to one.

Jonny Miller of Global Action Plan said of Ms Hunter: "Because of her enthusiasm, there appears to be a real energy around trying to make environmental improvements to their everyday operations.

"That effectively sets the bar for the industry when you have people leading like this."
