Energy suppliers British Gas acquire insulation firm - 15/04/2010

Energy suppliers
British Gas have teamed up with an insulation company to provide energy saving measures to consumers.

As part of the £5 million acquisition of Hillserve, British Gas hopes to help customers lower their carbon emissions and reduce their energy use by offering insulation services.

The company pointed out that one in every £4 spent on heating bills is wasted due to poor insulation in homes.

Phil Bentley, managing director of British Gas, said: "The insulation market is growing, and insulating homes is the cheapest way to reduce energy bills.

"Hillserve, like British Gas, has a real passion for great customer service and we are delighted to have secured the skills of the Hillserve team."

Julie Hadfield, managing director of Hillserve, added that the deal will spell good news for customers looking to reduce their energy bills.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, about a third of all the heat lost in an uninsulated home is lost through the walls.
