Taking steps to become more environmentally friendly can lead to a range of benefits, including access to cheap energy bills, it has been claimed.
Sarah Compo, an energy doctor at the Energy Saving Trust, said that homeowners can reduce their energy bills and their carbon footprint by implementing green measures around the home.
She suggested that doing things like using energy saving light bulbs and turning down the thermostat by one degree can help to reduce energy consumption, which itself can bring a range of benefits.
"These tips will not only help you to reduce your carbon footprint, but they will also save you money on your energy bills," Ms Compo said.
Another way homeowners can look to access cheap energy is to compare energy suppliers and move to the most suitable tariff for their current usage patterns.
Ms Compo was speaking ahead of Energy Saving Week, which runs from October 25th to 31st.
