A local authority in London is offering residents a number of ways in which they can reduce their cheap energy bills.
According to the Enfield Independent, Enfield Council has joined forces with Southern Electric to provide local householders with wall and loft insulation, hot water tank jackets and a range of advice about how to cut down cheap electricity bills.
Councillor Ahmet Oykener told the newspaper that the initiative is one way to bring local housing up to the Decent Homes standard.
"Free energy and water saving measure may be available to you if you are a homeowner or renting from a private landlord," he explained.
"You may be able to take up offers from the energy company, regardless of who supplies your gas and electricity."
Meanwhile, energy secretary Chris Huhne is considering plans to have the running costs of household appliances displayed at the point of sale.
