'Simple changes' could cut a firm's bills - 08/11/2011

Firms looking to compare business electricity prices may find they can significantly cut their energy bills by making simple changes in the workplace.

This is according to product manager for energy management at Siemens Lee Jones, who said it is important companies set their building control systems to reflect when an office will be empty.

He added: "If there are only a handful of people in there, then you do not need the full system running. These changes don't cost anybody any money."

Measures such as ensuring climate control systems are only operational when the location is occupied could save around ten per cent on business electricity bills, Mr Jones continued.

Recently, a survey from aspect.co.uk revealed over half of people in London would consider adding solar panels in order to save energy, while 13 per cent would look to take steps to reduce their usage of gas and electricity.
