More businesses in Wales have made moves to switch energy practices than in Scotland and various regions of England, says an environmental advice body.
According to Envirowise, nearly 95 per cent of firms in Wales have undertaken measures to reduce their outgoings in a range of areas, including lowering their energy consumption, while just 62 per cent in Scotland and 85 per cent in the East Midlands in England can attest to this, reports the Western Mail.
The only place where regions in England, including Greater London, outperform Wales is in relation to careless spending, according to the research.
Non Rhys, Wales policy officer for the Federation of Small Businesses, told the paper: "Saving money in a business and acting out of concern for the environment can go hand in hand, and now is a good opportunity for the government to provide information to businesses."
Businesses could reduce their energy bills by installing more efficient lighting and by ensuring non-essential electrical items are switched off during evenings and weekends.
