Energy suppliers Green Energy UK have launched a helpline to advise customers about saving power around the home.
The company's freephone line has been endorsed by the Energy Saving Trust and provides tailored tips to energy comparison customers.
Liz Bell of the energy supplier commented: "We're not telling people to switch everything off and sit in the dark. There are many simple ways homeowners can save energy without making big changes to their lifestyle.
"Homeowners can make a real difference in reducing carbon dioxide emissions as well as helping the nation's fuel resources go further simply by reducing their energy use," she explained.
Cheap energy consumers who save power will also save money on their bills, Ms Bell added.
The news comes as a government advisor claimed that the concept of 'doing a little' to save energy around the home does not have a significant impact.
Professor David MacKay is an advisor to the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
