Now that summer is on its way, many domestic energy users will not be thinking of ways to heat their homes.
However, it is worth considering now whether to switch energy tariffs ahead of predicted price hikes this year.
British Gas parent company Centrica has already warned its customers to expect costs to reflect the 25 per cent rise in wholesale prices on last year's levels, while energy suppliers including EDF, Ovo and First Utility have withdrawn more than 20 cheap energy tariffs in the last couple of months.
But consumers who will need cheaper bills this winter could still find a bargain if they compare energy tariffs today and opt for a fixed-rate deal, which ensures they will be protected against price hikes for the duration of their contract.
