Event highlights benefits of going green - 20/08/2012

The benefits of using renewable energy have been explained to consumers at an event in Grimsby.

Organised by Footprint Renewables, it highlighted the ability to get cheap electricity bills, while the economic and employment opportunities were also emphasised, the local Telegraph newspaper reported.

Spokesman for the firm Andrew Morton said: "This event is very much about how the public can benefit from renewable energy, whether that's choosing green power sources for their home to bring their energy costs down or finding a job in green energy."

He added it aims to bust some of the myths surrounding green energy, noting some people are put off by the fact it is new and quite hi-tech.

Local firms providing solutions such as solar panels were also on hand to demonstrate their products.
