More people pursuing cheap energy through efficiency - 02/06/2009
A growing number of people are looking to tackle prices from energy suppliers by pursuing domestic efficiency, according to the Telegraph.
Christian Aid surveyed more than 2,100 people and found that 70 per cent are being more careful to turn off unused electrical items, while three-quarters have switched to energy-saving light bulbs.
Nearly 60 per cent also said that their vote in the next general election could be affected by the environmental policies being put forward by the major parties.
Paul Brannen, head of campaigns at Christian Aid, told the paper: "The majority of voters want the UK government to take a lead in the vital international climate change talks in Copenhagen this year and to meet this demand the prime minister must personally lead the UK delegation."
The results of the survey have been released to tie in with World Environment Day, which will take place this Friday (June 5th).
Nuclear redevelopment is being supported by the government as one of the best ways of reducing future carbon emissions.
