Consumers may have more success in accessing cheap energy as a result of the £1 billion funding for the green investment bank.
Commenting following the government's Comprehensive Spending Review, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering, Blane Judd, said that the boost in investment for green initiatives may help homeowners reduce their energy consumption.
Such a reduction could in turn help individuals to gain access to cheaper bills from energy suppliers as their usage falls.
Mr Judd went on to say that the new funding could help to encourage consumers to give more consideration to renewable energy sources.
Such a move will benefit both the consumer and the environment, he said.
The Comprehensive Spending Review was announced by chancellor George Osborne yesterday (October 20th). He said that while £1 billion has been set aside for the green investment bank, he hopes that more funds will be raised through government asset sales and from the private sector.
