Individuals looking to go green by finding an energy supplier that uses renewable sources may also like to consider the benefits of installing solar panels and signing up for the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme.
Research from Consumer Focus has revealed the majority of people who have done this were very pleased with the results, with nine out of ten saying they are satisfied with their system and two-thirds likely to recommend it to friends.
Although the tariffs for the scheme have been cut from 43p/kWh to 21p/kWh as of yesterday (December 12th), Consumer Focus stated it will still be an attractive option for some customers, though it added flaws such as misleading sales practices and a lack of information need to be addressed urgently.
Energy expert at the organisation Liz Laine said: "Consumer confidence, trust and good word of mouth is key to the on-going success of this scheme."
She added this is even more important now householders will receive less income through their FIT deals.
