Welsh govt to encourage green homes - 04/01/2012
People in Wales who are looking to switch gas provider in order to obtain cheap energy may find homes in the country will offer greater efficiency in the future.
From this month, the Welsh government is to receive full control over building regulations from Westminster and the nation's environment minister John Griffiths said these powers will be used to boost the number of environmentally-friendly houses.
He stated: "We are committed to reducing the carbon emissions of the built environment and to moving to building standards that will deliver housing that is much more energy efficient."
Mr Griffiths added this will not only cut Wales' carbon output, but result in properties that are cheaper to keep warm in the future.
Meanwhile, people who are looking to reduce the amount of warmth their home loses may want to consider fitting draught-proofing measures, as it has been stated by Andrew Leech, director of the National Home Improvement Council, that this is an inexpensive way to boost an abode's energy efficiency.
