E.On has launched a new online tariff designed to encourage more people to switch energy companies and sign up with the firm.
The new tariff, dubbed FixOnline, is described by the company as the lowest dual fuel deal currently on the market and is available to customers who sign up on E.On's website and choose to pay by direct debit.
Customers choosing the tariff will save an average of £123 a year on their fuel bills and the deal has been priced to incorporate the nine per cent decrease in the cost of electricity recently announced by the firm.
Jim Macdonald, commercial director of E.On's retail business, said: "We're already lowering prices for over four million of our customers and have offered one of the cheapest gas prices throughout an exceptionally cold winter, so FixOnline is just more good news for E.On customers."
Additional energy companies could offer their own new deals in response to E.On's announcement.
All the UK's major energy companies raised their prices through the course of 2008.
