There are plenty of green cheap energy opportunities for businesses in the north-east to get involved in, the Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (Areg) has pointed out.
According to the Press and Journal, chief operating officer of the group Morag McCorkindale commented: "Offshore wind presents huge business opportunities for Scotland, particularly for Aberdeen City and Shire with its world-class oil and gas expertise, but it is vital that we create the right underpinning for the new industry."
He noted that investment in research and wind turbine demonstration is a fundamental part of the required infrastructure.
"One of Areg's flagship projects, the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre, is not only well positioned to deliver this but would support innovative energy technologies - deployment, operations and maintenance methods - that will create further jobs and growth in the future," Mr McCorkindale added.
His comments come as research from RenewableUK revealed that employment in the UK's wind energy sector has risen by 91 per cent in three years.
