People 'should act quickly' to get free insulation - 11/05/2012

Many people looking to get cheap gas and electricity supplies may be seeking out discounted energy deals in order to reduce their bills.

It was observed by Which? there are several schemes available, although the majority of these are restricted to individuals on low incomes or those who receive certain state benefits.

However, it did highlight a new deal between British Gas and the Daily Mirror running for one month only that has no eligibility requirements.

Energy expert at the consumer group Sylvia Baron said if people are thinking about taking advantage of one of the available offers, they should act quickly.

"The free deals offered by many big energy companies are likely to end later this year as the scheme that funds them will be replaced by the Green Deal. So if you want free insulation, get it now," she explained.

Recently, Thinkinsulation.co.uk stated fitting loft and cavity wall insulation could result in homes cutting their bills by hundreds of pounds a year.
