An MP in Northumberland has reminded residents that they could save money on their cheap electricity bills by making sure their homes conserve energy.
According to the Morpeth Herald, Wanbeck MP Ian Lavery has pointed out that the best way householders can save pounds a year is by using less power.
"The best way to do that while staying warm and keeping the lights on is to make our homes more energy efficient. Energy companies are committed to providing free loft and cavity wall insulation for their vulnerable customers," he noted.
"People should take advantage of this and during these financially difficult times save money and help save the environment."
The representative's comments come after energy supplier npower published guidelines to conserving heat and power in the home, including installing smart meters, loft insulation and a new boiler.
Meanwhile, Climate Week has kicked off and runs until Sunday, March 27th.
