npower boss 'humbled' by TV experience - 02/08/2011
The head of one of the Big Six energy suppliers is determined to provide an improved service for cheap gas customers after appearing in a Channel 4 documentary.
Kevin McCullough, chief operating officer at npower, went on Undercover Boss to see how his staff deal with their customers.
He said of his experience on the small screen that it was "humbling" to work with some brilliant people.
"For a long time I have been concerned that the energy sector takes a bashing and simply reacts to criticism and media stories - I want npower to be on the front foot more often," Mr McCullough said.
"There are things we need to fix and improve but this is now the start and not the end of a process."
Meanwhile, the Independent reported that both npower and E.ON could hike their gas and electricity prices this week after wholesale costs increased by 30 per cent since last year.
