Customers who are having some financial difficulties in the wake of the economic downturn should do everything they can to save money, such as by carrying out an energy comparison to find cheap electricity deals.
Jason Riddle, co-founder of Save Our Savers, commented that he would advise householders to take advantage of all the money saving initiatives they can find.
"Reducing your utility bill can be a particular challenge because so few of the offers are directly comparable. Don't just take the word of someone who comes knocking on your door," he suggested.
"Make full use of the price comparison sites … it might take some time, but there is scope to make plenty of savings if you shop about."
Mr Riddle's comments came after Mark Todd, director of energyhelpline.com, urged consumers to find a fixed rate energy deal quickly before suppliers scrap their cheapest offerings and replace them with more expensive ones.
