Green feed-in tariff suggestion made - 22/03/2011

Britons should take advantage of feed-in gas and electricity tariffs for renewable energy, its been suggested.

Ian Reilly of Beyond Building Solar noted that feed-in energy tariffs should receive support from the government because they help provide cheap green energy options.

He explained that "the government really needs to seriously consider keeping this incentive going, because the fact is that the infrastructure with electricity in the country is costing quite a lot of money".

As such, homeowners should "strike while the iron's hot" and take up the renewable energy scheme before it is removed.

"The best time to get it is now, while it is where it is," Mr Reilly insisted.

Last week, the government announced that the feed-in tariffs for renewable solar installations of more than 50kW would be reduced.
