Energy suppliers Energia have launched a new scheme aimed at helping companies reduce their business energy bills.
The initiative, which has been assisted by the Energy Savings Trust, could help businesses save hundreds of thousands of pounds and improve their overall business energy efficiency, reports the Belfast Telegraph.
Tom Gillen, Energia's chief operating officer, maintained that savings could be in the region of £200,000, while the company's energy efficiency scheme has saved Northern Ireland businesses £34 million.
"There is now a great opportunity for businesses to cut their overheads significantly through the use of grants, which will cover at least 20 per cent of the investment," he said.
Mr Gillen explained that Energia introduced schemes based around energy efficiency lighting in 2005 and then branched out into variable speed drives, heat recovery devices, sonic leak detection and refrigeration.
Energia's energy efficiency programme will endorse schemes that will deliver projects with a total capital expenditure of up to £1 million.
According to the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, energy prices in Ireland are lower than the EU average.
