UK householders 'becoming more aware' of green issues - 06/10/2011

Many people may like to look for cheap electricity suppliers that can offer green energy to customers, as there is said to be growing awareness among UK householders of sustainability issues.

According to Chayley Collis, marketing manager at the Green Building Store, more people are becoming interested in environmentally friendly technology such as the Passivhaus building methodology, which could help customers save money on their energy bills as well as cutting a home's carbon emissions.

She added that there are several steps many homeowners can do to improve the energy efficiency of their abodes.

"There are a number of low cost measures to minimise draughts and the resulting heat loss from buildings. The Energy Saving Trust offer lots of advice on draught-proofing," Ms Collis said, noting people could also claim assistance for items such as insulation, with grants available even to those living in rented property.

Recently, it was observed by Richard Jones, policy director at the Residential Landlords Association, that energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important to tenants due to rising costs for gas and electricity.
