Tourism firms in Exmoor could enjoy access to cheap energy bills following free consultations on sustainable practices.
The Exmoor National Park Authority has joined forces with sustainability organisation Forum 21 to launch the scheme which is intended to help British tourism by reducing running costs.
Pursuing greener business practices could help firms lower their outgoings while also cutting their carbon footprints and reducing their emissions of harmful greenhouse gases.
Dan James, sustainable economy officer at Exmoor Nation Park Authority, said: "These [energy assessment] visits are aimed at providing those businesses with a first step to help them on a journey to sustainability."
He added that the move is considered one of the best ways of helping tourism businesses through the current recession and continuing to promote Britain's natural environment.
Forum 21 will assess the energy usage of businesses in the region and suggest ways in which their situation can be improved.
A recent YouGov survey commissioned by the Carbon Trust revealed that the majority of UK employees would embrace energy efficiency but their bosses have not explained how to do it.
