A business energy user faces losing his firm after being hit with a £30,000 electricity bill.
According to the Dartford Times, James Soutter's Mostly Smoked business could be put into administration if he cannot come up with the money.
Mr Soutter told the newspaper that British Gas undercharged him for three years and engineers have made more than 20 visits to the site to take meter readings despite the energy supplier sending him estimated bills.
He said the huge bill could ruin him and he may have to declare himself bankrupt if he is forced to pay it.
"We have proof our meter was read regularly as keys were signed out. I know the bills are estimated but when you have someone turning up regularly to read the meter you expect it to be accurate," he explained.
"Why were the readings not passed on and used when calculating the bill?"
Mr Soutter is now in talks with British Gas and the Energy Ombudsman.
