Business energy clients could take advantage of opportunities for growth if they switch to green energy, according to research.
A survey from Lloyds TSB found a third of small companies have grown as a result of implementing sustainable policies, while nine in ten have already put green energy plans into action.
John Maltby, managing director of Lloyds TSB Commercial, commented: "It's no secret that smaller, private sector firms will be one of the main drivers of the economic recovery this year. However, many businesses may not have realised the wealth of opportunities open to them by becoming a more sustainable business."
He pointed out that, as well as cutting overheads and operating costs, small firms that become greener could have a competitive edge over rivals.
Companies could start by switching to green energy tariffs and being more energy efficient.
