FIT scheme benefits green energy supplier - 05/05/2011

Energy comparison customers who are considering installing small-scale generating equipment in their homes could do so under the feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme.

Renewable energy supplier Good Energy has announced a 70 per cent increase in the number of independent generators who have taken advantage of the FIT and started supplying extra green electricity.

The company's end of year results also saw an increase in gross profits of almost £1.5 million and 684 new customers, Click Green reported.

Meanwhile, Good Energy's recently re-opened Delabole wind farm has also improved prospects for the supplier.

"The successful completion of the new Delabole wind farm means it should now supply around 20 per cent of our electricity and gives us better control over pricing, and more wind farm developments will be a key part of our future strategy," said Juliet Davenport, chief executive of the energy provider.

The wind project is set to supply enough power to run 7,000 homes.
