People looking to perform an energy comparison in order to find a cheap electricity deal may be interested in the view of one organisation on how to tackle rising bills.
Policy and campaigns director at Friends of the Earth Craig Bennett said one of the main reasons for the significant price increases implemented by the Big Six energy suppliers recently is a greater dependence on imported gas, oil and coal.
"Cutting the energy we waste and developing clean British energy offers the best hope of an end to nightmare price hikes," he stated.
Mr Bennett warned it is essential the government steps in to "fix our broken energy system" to make gas and electricity bills affordable and to prevent families paying a high price for the necessity of keeping warm.
His comments come shortly after Scottish Power removed its Online Energy Saver 15 deal from the market, which means there are now no tariffs available in the UK offering average annual bills of under £1,000.
