More consumers could be able to access cheap energy as a result of the government's boiler scrappage scheme, which has now reached its target level.
Some 125,000 people have now been assisted with the cost of installation of a new boiler through the boiler scrappage scheme, which offered a £400 discount.
The move was designed to not only improve fuel efficiency in the home, but also help sustain work for the heating industry and allow consumers to save money on their energy bills.
Energy and climate change minister Lord Hunt said: "The scheme's been a great success and is already helping people cut down on their fuel bills. An 'A-rated' energy efficient boiler can help save around £200 a year off fuel bills and reduce emissions."
He added that as a result of the scheme, other companies have taken the initiative to offer their own discounts as well.
While all the vouchers offering money off have been claimed through the scrappage scheme, not all the new boilers have yet been installed. By mid-March, more than 35,000 new boilers had been fitted.
