Energy suppliers British Gas have announced that Trilliant will provide the communications equipment when it comes to the roll out of their Smart Meter technology.
The initial process to provide one million of the cheap energy provider's 16 million customer accounts will be completed within the next two years, making Trilliant one of the biggest suppliers of public wireless network meter communications equipment in the world.
President of the company Andy White commented: "We look forward to playing an even more central role in the rapidly accelerating UK smart metering programme by providing an end-to-end, open standard, multi-network communications solution that is compatible with emerging UK smart meter regulations."
British Gas director of smart metering Peter Allison noted that Trilliant has already formed "an invaluable part" of the energy firm's smart meter ecosystem and said the company will help to improve and development British Gas' deployment plans.
Meanwhile, the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has pledged to roll out smart meters to every home in the UK by 2020, in order to help householders reduce their energy bills and carbon emissions.
