Householders wanting to switch gas suppliers might have heard about plans for the Green Investment Bank, but the details are still missing.
Gordon Miller, co-founder of Sustain Worldwide, believes the government ought to provide clarity about its goals for the financial institution.
"Clarity needs to be provided urgently on a couple of matters: when legislation will be enshrined, and if the bank will be permitted to borrow from the capital markets from the get go," he argued.
"Whilst such detail is missing, businesses will be wary about investing significantly in the green economy for fear of the government rowing back on its promises."
Mr Miller said it is "vital" that announcements on these subjects are made sooner rather than later "to ensure confidence is injected into the market".
His comments come after the coalition announced the Green Investment Bank will begin operating in April 2012.
