E.ON price hike 'stuns' customers - 08/08/2011
Domestic energy customers are likely to be "stunned" at the latest price hike from E.ON, an energy comparison site has stated.
Paul Green, chief executive of energyhelpline.com, noted that the increase of 18 per cent for gas and 11 per cent for electricity supplies will add £170 to the average dual fuel bill and cause another 140,000 households to fall into fuel poverty.
He said the expectation that the energy supplier would announce a price rise does not make the reality any easier for those on the receiving end of the hike.
Mr Green explained: "However, this price rise should serve as a further warning to people about the need to switch to a fixed-price energy deal as soon as possible."
