Many companies in the UK may like to compare business electricity suppliers to see if they can get a better deal, as high prices are becoming a major issue for many firms.
This is according to a report by the BBC, which stated that some enterprises in energy-heavy sectors such as manufacturing could look to move their operations overseas to locations such as China because of the high cost of commercial gas and electricity.
Some firms have seen rises of more than 50 per cent for their gas usage this year, with business electricity costs increasing by around 17 per cent, which makes foreign countries with lower energy prices an attractive option for UK companies.
Energy secretary Chris Huhne said that while the government is working to provide assistance to high-energy business electricity and gas users, there is little it can do to counter some of the market factors that have led to some of these rises.
However, he added proposed reforms of the energy sector announced at last month's Liberal Democrat conference in Birmingham will help both business and domestic energy users.
