Business electricity customers who are moving into new premises may find they lose money if they do not arrange their energy supplies in advance.
This is according to research by npower, which revealed this is a problem affecting a large number of firms, with a typical enterprise losing up to five days of trading due to this.
New connections manager at the energy supplier Nick Lewis stated companies often do not factor commercial gas and electricity supplies into their thinking and end up with an "unwelcome surprise".
He added: "Business disruptions caused by a delay to a new electricity or gas connection when moving into new premises can easily be avoided with pre-planning."
This could be especially important to firms moving locations at this time of year, as any delays could affect vital Christmas trading.
Meanwhile, it has also been noted by product manager for energy management at Siemens Lee Jones that businesses can see major reductions to their energy bills by making simple changes to areas such as automatic climate control systems.
