Many people in the UK may find comparing energy suppliers in order to find cheap gas deals is an important activity at this time of year.
This is because, with Christmas fast approaching, it has been observed by Citizens Advice that a large number of households may struggle to fund the occasion, which could lead to them cutting back on essentials such as fuel.
A study by the organisation found a fifth of people in the UK say they will turn off their central heating to help them pay for the celebration this year.
More that a third of householders stated they would cut back on decorations such as fairy lights in order to make their finances stretch further.
However, although 31 per cent of individuals were unable to meet their bills this January due to festive spending in 2010, 54 per cent have no plans to spend less on items such as food and drink this year.
Last month, it was stated by general secretary of the Trades Union Congress Brendan Barber that high inflation and rises in gas and electricity prices will lead to many people facing a "tough Christmas".
