Public invited to waste plant consultation - 02/08/2012

A drop-in session will be held today (August 2nd) in Knaresborough for members of the public to comment on plans to build an energy from waste plant at Allerton Park in North Yorkshire.

Individuals will be able to have their say between 11:00 and 19:30 BST at Knaresborough House where Environment Agency officers will be on hand to answer questions.

Darren Leng, regulatory officer at the Environment Agency, said: "We appreciate that there is interest in this application. So we have arranged this event to give the community the opportunity to come and discuss the application with us."

The proposed plant will thermally treat non-hazardous mixed waste from municipal, commercial and industrial sites and use the energy created to generate electricity.

Amey Cespa has put forward the plans and is hoping to secure a permit from the Environment Agency that will give the construction the go ahead following the end of the consultation on August 31st.
