Now is the time to compare cheap energy prices and switch gas or electricity tariffs to find a better deal.
This is the advice from Richard Lloyd, executive director of Which?, who pointed out that most people were expecting EDF to hike prices following in the footsteps of other energy suppliers.
"All of the major suppliers have now announced substantial price hikes, so now is the time to make sure you're on the cheapest available deal," he advised.
"If you're not already paying by direct debit, or if you've been on the same tariff for more than a year then you could be paying too much. Most of us have never switched - so check if you can find a cheaper deal today."
Customers who switch on an energy comparison site could save over £200, Mr Lloyd added.
EDF's price hike comes into effect on November 10th, so householders have only a few weeks to move on to a different tariff or change suppliers completely.
