People looking to get cheap gas supplies may be able to take advantage of a scheme for British Gas that could improve the efficiency of their heating system.
The firm has announced it is reintroducing its boiler scrappage scheme, which more than 30,000 households took advantage of last year.
Eligible customers will be able to get £400 off the cost of a new boiler, while more modern products could help cut annual bills by up to £300 through greater efficiency.
The scheme was backed by Jasmine Birtles, founder of moneymagpie.com, who said the initiative "gives customers a great incentive to start making home improvements - and make a real difference to their energy bills".
Other suggestions put forward by the firm for cutting energy usage include turning the thermostat down by a single degree, ensuring electrical items are not left on standby and taking advantage of the warmer weather to avoid using energy-intensive tumble driers.
Recently, British Gas demonstrated a new control for heating systems that allows users to turn their boiler off remotely if they forget to do this before going out for the day.
