British Gas to simplify tariffs - 25/11/2011
Individuals looking to perform an energy comparison who are confused by the range of options available to them may be pleased to hear British Gas has pledged to simplify its tariffs.
The firm announced it will offer customers a straightforward choice between a fixed and variable deal as part of a drive to increase transparency and restore consumer confidence.
Commenting on the announcement, director of independent price comparison site energyhelpline.com Mark Todd said the move is a good start, but British Gas should go further in order to assist its energy users.
He stated: "British Gas needs to look at its pricing policies and also at its discounting structures, which many customers say to us are just too complex."
Mr Todd added the best thing the energy supplier can do to win back consumers is to cut the cost of its tariffs.
