A new study has revealed that many businesses remain unclear over what exactly they can do to pursue cheap energy rates and make their operations more efficient.
British Gas Business found that almost all businesses surveyed want to pursue energy efficiency more effectively, but nearly 30 per cent do not know how to do it and nearly a quarter think more information should be on offer, reports the Morning Advertiser.
In response, British Gas Business has unveiled a new section on its website where small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and other firms can seek information quickly and easily to develop an efficiency plan.
Kanat Emiroglu, director of SME markets at British Gas Business, said: "Cost-cutting is essential to small businesses as we move deeper into the recession, but by taking simple energy efficiency measures, companies could save up to 20 per cent."
The director added that the website is intended to help businesses that lack the resources of larger firms.
In related news, the government recently announced that smart meters will be rolled out across the UK to encourage wider energy efficiency.
