A competition has been launched by a Sale and Altrincham firm to find the office making the best business gas and electricity savings in the UK.
The local Cartridge World store has arranged the competition with co2balance, a firm that specialises in carbon offsetting schemes and the intention is to promote energy efficiency in the office and reduce the national carbon footprint, reports Messenger Newspapers.
Nominations from across the UK will be divided into six regional categories, with carbon footprint assessment, management and accreditation available from co2balance for the winner, alongside a digital camera and Center Parcs vouchers.
Brad McBride, the area franchisee for Cartridge World, told the paper: "We want to encourage all local businesses, whatever their size, to think about their environmental policy - everything from waste recycling practices to energy-saving activities."
He added that his store is setting the green example through measures such as double-sided printing and increased recycling.
Businesses could tackle prices from energy suppliers by switching off non-essential electrical equipment overnight and installing efficient LED lighting.
